Processing

Generally the surface should be tested before applying Sajade. Existing water-solvent contamination from the sub-surface could unattractively colour the freshly applied Sajade. With critical sub-surfaces (particularly with the application of light Sajade-decors) it is highly recommended to apply a special-base colour, which prevents the bleed of water-soluble contamination from the sub-surface.

The pre-treatment of the

sub-surface is conducted

according to the leaflet

‘Sub-surface Pre-treatment’

  1. First, every hole and undulation are filled, so that a clean, levelled surface is presented for a uniform coating.
  2. The special LÖVA base-colouring should to be applied twice. The coating should be mixed with adhesive, to guarantee Sajade’s easy handling. A sufficient strong LÖVA film prohibits, old stains on the sub-surface from; nicotine, water, soot, oil, grease, wallpaper and paste etc from penetrating the decor-coating. Please consider the drying time of at least 2 hours after the first specialbase-coating and 8 hours after the second coating until processing with decor-coating. For additional technical information please read the leaflet, which accompanies every bucket of LÖVA base-colour. A meticulous foundation is the best preparation for an immaculate wall and ceiling coating.
  3. Special LÖVA base paint is only available at JaDecor-certified specialists.

The wall-coating is made by mixing manually the whole material to the correct amount of cold water in a suitable container - and not vice versa – an easy to spread, elastic, and self bonded material is created. A 15 minutes soaking time is required before decor-coating is applied, in a one step application, to the correctly pre-treated sub-surfaces. The mixture consistency is correct if it slips from a tile trowel held at a slight angle. Ideally, decor-coating is applied with a thin, plastic, flexible tile trowel (about 2 mm plate thickness). New tile trowels, with curved bottom edges and roughed bottom surface are ideal. For best results use our Sajade-tile trowel, which was specially developed for this product.

The coating is applied quickly by hand without force or pressure, in a continuous application. The trowel is held at a light angle, nearly parallel to the wall and not a sharp angle. At inside corners, the coating is applied away from the corners. The unit mixture of Sajade covers an area of about 3.3 m2, assuming a coating thickness of 0.8 to 1.2 mm and an optimal sub-surface.

Plaster sprayers can be used with suitable walls (please request information from your JaDecor specialist).

If necessary JaDecor wall-coating is easily removed. It can also be over-coated with an additional Sajade coating or other traditional wall coverings. Sajade is removed with water (after saturation) and scrapping with a spatula. A steam cleaner will loosen and remove Sajade. Sajade can be disposed in your normal domestic waste.

Drying process

The drying time is with approx. 3-4 days. The goal is to get the water that is necessary for the processing as fast as possible from the area. Therefore ventilators or dehumidifiers are recommendable and depending upon weather to heat. Wind shortens the drying time likewise much. The coating does not fall, contrary to the wallpaper of wall and cover, if it dries as fast as possible. Also no tears result as with other flashes from accelerated drying.

Sub-surface Treatment

Before coating with Sajade the sub-surface, which needs to be clean, dry and sound, is subjected to an in-depth test. Care must be taken to insure water soluble substances in the wall do not stain Sajade. This can be clarified during the importance test. It may be necessary to pretreat the sub-surface in order to obtain an optimal Sajade coating, particularly when light colours are used or for old wall and ceiling surfaces.

Additionally it should always be noted:

LÖVA ELF’s
optimal effect can only be achieved on dry walls. Firstly cracks and holes must be filled, before insulation.
Discontinuities at beams, windows and doors etc. must before be filled with Acryl F130 (Henkel), or similar, and insulated.
125 – 140 ml of LÖVA ELF-pre-coat cover one square metre when painting/rolling. LÖVA ELF-pre-coat is available in 2.5 litres, 5.0 litres or 10 litres trading units. 10 litres are sufficient for up to 80 square metres.

Generally it must be pointed out:
Loose, sandy and chalky sub-surfaces need to be consolidated. The sub-surface needs to be made equally absorbent.
Old wall or ceiling surfaces, which are stained through nicotine et al., water or damp, mould, corroding nails or iron
splints, alkaline plaster, glue resin on chip board and so forth (as well as tiles), must be treated, with an undiluted,
saturated top-dress priming agent which is solvent-free. For multi-coat applications, please see the leaflet ‘Sub-surface
Pre-treatment’.

Attention!
Advice for special cases will be given on request based on the latest technologies and our knowledge of your specific
conditions. Tests are always recommended. A third coating with LÖVA ELF might be necessary for particularly critical
sub-surfaces.
